1Co 3:14 – If anyone’s work which he has built upon the foundation remains, he will receive a reward;
1Co 3:15 – If anyone’s work is consumed, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

These two verses are both an encouragement and a strong reminder to believers who have already received God’s salvation as a free gift.
Notice how the Lord promises a reward to His faithful ministers and a punishment to those who use organic materials (such as wood, grass, and stubble) in His building. The Lord here is not desiring to punish believers; rather, He is giving us a forewarning of what will happen if we use materials that are not fit for His nature.
Whether we like it or not, all of us will face His judgment seat, and all of our works after salvation will be tested by fire. Only then will we know what kind of material we have used.
There’s a small point in the MR today where it says that the kingdom reward will be altogether according to our works that we have done by the “Lord’s life”. After we have received the Lord’s life, our works should be led not by our natural and fallen nature but by His life.
A strong P.S.
To be led by His life is the wisest decision a believer could ever make in his work for the Lord.
